AlHijjah 19, 1434, Oct 24, 2013, SPA -- U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned Wednesday's suicide attack by unknown assailants on a checkpoint of the U.N. mission in Mali in which a number of Chadian peacekeepers have been killed and injured. "The Secretary-General offers his condolences to the families of the fallen peacekeepers and wishes a swift recovery to those wounded," a statement issued by Ban's spokesman said. The U.N. Security Council set up the U.N. Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) in April. According to the statement, it appears that there were also a number of civilian casualties in the attack, which occurred in Tessalit in the Kidal region.
