The Executive Council of World News Agencies concluded last night its 3rd preparatory meeting for the Council's IV World Congress at the headquarters of British News Agency in London with the participation of Director General of Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Abdullah Bin Fahd Al-Hussein. Addressing the meeting, Abdullah Bin Fahd Al-Hussein welcomed the members of World News Agencies Council in their preparatory meeting for the IV World Congress scheduled to be held in November 2013 in Riyadh, reviewing the Congress' agenda and wishing that it will be a distinguished landmark in the development of works and activities of World News Agencies Congress. SPA Director General said in his speech, " I am pleased to welcome you on the occasion of convening this meeting. I thank you very much for attending this meeting. I value your constructive efforts and effective contributions for the continuation of success and development of the meetings of this Conference. I hope this meeting will achieve the desired goals and be another preparatory step for meetings of the IV World Congress scheduled to be held in November 2013 in Riyadh. I reiterate SPA's readiness for working to make the Riyadh World Congress a success and its keenness on completing the necessary arrangements. I hope that the meeting will be a distinguished landmark for the positive results it will achieve to develop the performance of news agencies around the world and their technological tools and improve their competitive capabilities in line with the reality of modern media and their new devices. In this regard, SPA has established a special site on the internet for the Riyadh World Congress that will include the most important and essential details and information in addition to news related to the Congress. The site will be launched soon. I take this opportunity to propose a session focusing on our forthcoming Congress in Riyadh for discussion on the growing importance of press photos and the technical and technological advances in this field and ways of developing the performance and efficiency of press photographers as well as convening a photo exhibition on the sidelines of the meetings of the Riyadh Congress in which international news agencies participate with a selected photo or two for each news agency provided that they are sent before the holding of the session of the Congress with ample time''. --MORE
