At least 14 civilians including nine road construction workers were killed and three injured in two separate attacks in Afghanistan, officials said Saturday. "A minivan struck a landmine in Marjah district this morning, in which five civilians including a woman and a child were killed," said Amar Zwak, governor's spokesman for the southern province of Helmand, dpa reported. He said three men were wounded in the attack. In western Herat province, insurgents shot and killed nine workers of a road construction company. "The militants attacked a police checkpoint at 12:30 am (2000 GMT) in Karrokh district, but faced police resistance and escaped from the area," provincial police spokesman Abdul Raouf Ahmadi said. -- SPA 12:13 LOCAL TIME 09:13 GMT تغريد
