Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday shot dead a prosecutor in western Afghanistan who was also a brother of the country's national security advisor. "Unknown armed men opened fire on Wali Jan this morning in Karrokh district, in which he unfortunately passed away," said Abdul Raouf Ahmadi, police spokesman for Herat province said. Jan's brother is National Security Advisor Rangin Dadfar Spanta, according to a report of DPA. No one claimed responsibility for the assassination, which was confirmed by sources in the National Security Council.
