AlHijjah 23, 1433, Nov 8, 2012, SPA -- At least 18 people were killed Thursday in three separate attacks in Afghanistan, dpa cited officials as saying. Ten civilians including women and a child were killed when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in southern Helmand province, police said. "A minivan heading to a wedding party was hit by a roadside bomb in Musa Qala district, killing five women, four men and a child," police officer Mohammad Ismael told dpa. Seven children were also injured in the incident, he said. Meanwhile, an army convoy struck a landmine in eastern Laghman province, killing five soldiers, the provincial spokesman said. The incident near provincial capital Mehtarlam also injured one soldier, Sarhadi Zowak said. Also Thursday, three policemen were killed when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden motorbike at a police checkpoint in Kandahar city, the capital of the province with the same name, provincial spokesman Javed Faisal said. Sources in the state-run Mirwais Hospital said they had received three bodies and seven injured.
