The International Conference on Education, currently held in Mumbai, India, has granted its international excellence prize in education to Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed, Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was handed over to his deputy the Secretary General of the Educational departments Dr. Rashed Al-ghayadh. In a speech read on his behalf by Al-ghayadh, the minister said Saudi Arabia is witnessing a huge social and economic change, citing the trend to move to a knowledge-based economy and the fact that more than 50% of Saudi Arabia's population are youths of around 25 years old. He briefed the conferees on the giant steps taken to reform education and economy, citing that schools have been equipped with 6500 labs and 130000 computers in the last two years.
