Under the chairmanship of its Vice Speaker Dr. Mohammed bin Amin Al-Jeffry, the Consultative Council (Majlis Ashura) today rejected a proposal by the Foreign Ministry to increase the charges levied for notarization of documents presented to the Ministry by the public. In a press statement, Assistant Speaker of the council Dr. Fahad bin Mu'tad Al-Hamad said following the meeting that lands allotted for airports should be reserved for the use of airports and not be used by others. Discussing the report on the annual performance of the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Council noted that the report includes generalities, making the report looks as if the Ministry is without strategic planning on both the short and long terms. The Council's Committee for Cultural and Information Affairs noted that the report lacks sufficient figures on expenditure as well as clear-cut cultural programs of the ministry. The committee demanded the Ministry of Culture and Information to focus on details of aspects of disbursement of the budget. It also urged the TV and Broadcasting Stations as well as the Saudi Press Agency to prepare themselves to compete in the space media of today and tomorrow.
