A magnitude 3.9 earthquake hit Russia's Far Eastern Sakhalin Island on Saturday, a spokesman for the local emergencies services told Itar-Tass. "The crisis management center of the Russian emergencies ministry's Sakhalin department received information about a seismic event in the vicinity of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk at 10:19 Moscow time," the spokesman said. According to the spokesman, the epicenter of the earthquake nested at a depth of 75 kilometers eight kilometers south from the settlement of Sinegorsk. Earth tremors measuring two to three points on the Richter scale were felt in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. No casualties or damages have been reported.
