At least 19 people were killed and 36 injured when a truck carrying liquefied gas exploded in a suburb of Mexico City on Tuesday, dpa quoted authorities as saying. Television footage showed torched and blackened houses and cars and some of the victims killed in their homes. Media reports said the truck had been speeding when it crashed into a wall, causing the container it was carrying to fall off and explode. The truck driver was under arrest at a hospital, said Salvador Neme, citizen security minister for the state of Mexico bordering thecapital. Rescue teams were deployed to assist the injured, some of them children.
