At least 51 people were killed in separate collisions between vehicles on roads in southern and western states of India on Monday, officials and reports said, according to DPA. Senior police official Ashok Kumar said 23 members of a wedding party died when the van they were travelling in collided with a truck in the Adilabad district of southern Andhra Pradesh state. "Twenty-three people were killed and 25 others injured when the van collided head-on with a speeding truck at an area in the district located 250 kilometres north of state capital Hyderabad," Kumar said. Later on Monday, 28 people were killed in another bus accident near the Anand district of the western Gujarat state, the CNN-IBN news channel reported. The accident occurred when a tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) collided with a truck and sparks set off fire on the bus which was 10 feet away on the highway. While 15 people died on the scene, 13 others succumbed to the burn injuries at a state-run hospital where the wounded were rushed, the channel reported.
