Foreign Ministers acknowledged the importance of the Somali Government's work to promote reconciliation, de-mobilize and re-integrate those Al Shabaab fighters who have renounced violence, and pledged to support these efforts. They reiterated the importance of a comprehensive political settlement in Somalia. G8 Foreign Ministers noted the economic, security and human rights challenges that face Sudan and South Sudan, and underlined the need to implement the September 2012 Addis Ababa agreements. G8 Foreign Ministers expressed deep concerns about the increasing human tragedy of the conflict in Syria. The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting a Syrian-led political transition. G8 Foreign Ministers re-affirmed their strong support for the political transition process in Yemen.
