President of the The Sudan Omer Hasan Al-Bushier returned to Khartoum today after having taken part in the African Union and East African body IGAD's 16th ordinary summit in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa. In a press statement, Ali Ahmed Karti, Sudan's Foreign Minister, who was accompanying the president in his trip, said the African Union's summit has convoked special meetings on the situations in each of Sudan and Somalia. He said the African leaders hailed Bashier's pre-referendum brief visit to Juba, the capital of South Sudan, and his address which they said has created a positive atmosphere that paved the way for a peaceful and smooth voting. He said the African summit issued a statement expressing support for Sudan against the International Criminal Court saying that the court's practices against Sudan would not help bringing about peace on the African country's territories.
