Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities has said that support by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for tourism reflects the belief in the importance of tourism as a key tool for effective economic development and job creation. Prince Sultan bin Salman's remarks came in a speech he delivered at the ceremony announcing Manama, Bahrain, as the capital of Arab tourism for 2013. The ceremony was held in Manama yesterday. Prince Sultan bin Salman reviewed efforts in the field of tourism including archaeological excavation projects currently being carried out by 25 Saudi and international teams in various regions of the Kingdom in addition to rehabilitation and development projects of heritage villages, the establishment of 12 regional and major museums and other projects and programs for the protection and rehabilitation of archaeological sites and heritage.
