Japanese stocks plummeted Tuesday as investor sentiment was deteriorated by the yen's rise and uncertainty over the outcome of the general election in Italy. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average lost 263.71 points, or 2.26 per cent, to end at 11,398.81 while the broader-based Topix index was down 13.93 points, or 1.42 per cent, at 966.77. On currency markets at 3 pm (0600 GMT), the dollar traded at 92.02-03 yen, down sharply from Monday's 5 pm quote of 94.13-14 yen. The euro was quoted at 120.17-19 yen, down from 124.45-49 yen late Monday, and at 1.3059-3061 dollars, down from 1.3221-3222 dollars, according to a report of DPA.
