At least four miners were killed and six trapped Thursday in a landslide at a coal mine in the central Philippines, police said. Rescuers dug out the bodies of the victims from the landslide at the open-cast mining area in Caluya town in Antique province, 300 kilometres south of Manila. "There was heavy downpour in the area in the past days so we believe the landslide was triggered by that," dpa quoted Regional Police Director Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz as saying. Three workers were rescued and taken to hospital. The Semirara Mining Corporation said it was determining the cause of the accident and has stopped operations to ensure the safety of is personnel.
