The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has expressed his hope that calm and stability prevail in Iraq, noting that the demands of demonstrators should be raised in democratic and peaceful ways, through democratic channels, and constitutional institutions. In a press statement here yesterday, he said that what is happening in Iraq now is a political dispute that should be resolved by democratic means calling on Iraqis not to use the religious dimension in the dispute, and expressing the OIC 's readiness to play a full role in this regard if it is requested to do so.
