The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, received yesterday at his office here, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Alisher Kadyrov, who presented his credentials to the Secretary General in his capacity as his country's Permanent Representative to the OIC. Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary General recalled his previous visit to Uzbekistan in August 2007 and stated that the OIC is looking forward to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the service of the joint Islamic action. The Ambassador expressed Uzbek government's appreciation to the Secretary General for his efforts in raising the profile of the OIC as a significant player in the global arena. He also expressed the desire of his country to further strengthen cooperation and relations with the OIC in areas of common interest, according to a press release issued by the OIC. On his part Prof. Ihsanoglu expressed the OIC General Secretariat's wish and readiness to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan and assured the Ambassador of Uzbekistan of full support and cooperation for the success of his mission.
