The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, vigorously condemned in a letter addressed to Nouri Al-Maliki, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, the heinous terrorist twin bombings in Baghdad on 25th October, 2009. The pair of bombings targeted government buildings, killing and wounding hundreds of innocent Iraqis. Professor Ekmeleddine Ihsanoglu also denounced the abominable terrorist operations that unceasingly target innocent civilians and seek to spread panic and hatred among innocent Iraqis. "These terrorist acts also seek to undermine national reconciliation efforts, hamper the work of constitutional institutions, and turn Iraq into a breeding ground for terrorism". The Secretary General extended his condolences to the families of the victims of the twin bombings that hit Baghdad and to the government and the Iraqi people, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. He urged the Iraqi people to commit to their country"s national unity, security and stability and support its constitutional institutions, according to a press release issued by the OIC yesterday. --SPA
