Jordanian King Abdullah II met here today with Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Qandil, who conveyed a message from Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi to the King to visit Egypt. The message also stressed the need to continue coordination and consultation on means to enhance bilateral ties as well as on different Arab and regional issues of common concern. During the meeting, the King affirmed the strong Jordanian-Egyptian ties, stressing keenness on enhancing them, especially in political and economic fields. King Abdullah II also highlighted the importance of holding the Joint Jordanian-Egyptian Committee to enhance and institutionalize bilateral relations. The meeting also dealt with regional developments, especially the situation in Syria, where the King stressed the need to end the bloodshed in the neighboring country and preserve safety, security and stability of the Syrian people. The King and Qandil also discussed the peace process, and means to benefit from recognition of Palestine as non-member state observer at the UN to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, and in line with the two-state solution.
