Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense chaired the Cabinet's session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Monday afternoon. At the outset of the session, the Crown Prince, princes and ministers praised Allah Almighty for the success of the surgery which the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has undergone at King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard, praying to Allah Almighty to preserve the King and bestow upon him good health and quick recovery. Then, the Cabinet was briefed by the Crown Prince on the discussions, consultations and contacts conducted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and by himself with a number of leaders of brotherly and friendly countries and their envoys, on the latest developments in the region, and the development of events in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja, said in a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session that the Cabinet commended the decisions of the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council to discuss the repercussions of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, stressing the Kingdom's condemnation of these attacks, and its call for the Security Council to be more stringent and assume its responsibilities to compel Israel to stop the attacks on the besieged innocent people in Gaza. The Cabinet reviewed the efforts exerted to discuss the latest developments in Syria, including the 2nd Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States and the Russian Federation; the Arab Ministerial Committee on the situation in Syria; and the 2nd Arab-European Meeting at level of foreign ministers. The Cabinet expressed the Kingdom's appreciation for all those efforts, looking forward to more efforts in the unification of the international will to tackle the Syrian crisis and provide the necessary support at political, security and humanitarian arenas for the Syrian people and the achievement of their legitimate aspirations. --More
