AlHijjah 28, 1433, Nov 13, 2012, SPA -- Arab and European foreign ministers today welcomed the arrangement recently reached in Doha, Qatar, by Syrian opposition factions under the sponsorship of Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalid Al Thani. In Cairo Declaration which they issued following their joint meeting at the headquarters of the Arab League, the Arab and European foreign ministers also demanded the other parties of the Syrian opposition spectrum who are still lagging behind to join the newly-formed coalition and the current Syrian opposition organization to enter into dialogue with Lakhdar Ibrahimi, the UN-Arab joint envoy to solve the Syrian crisis, aiming to a peaceful transition of power in Syria. The ministers confirmed the need for a real political transition of power in Syria according to a timetable to be agreed upon at the UN Security Council provided that it meets the legitimate requirements of the Syrian people and establishes a transitional constitutional structure in the country. They reiterated the need for a prompt ceasefire in Syria to be worked out upon Geneva Statement issued on 30 June 2012 and expressed worry about the humanitarian situation in Syrian, demanding that all officials responsible of human rights violations in Syria should be brought to justice. --More
