Lakhdar Al-Ibrahimi, the new UN-AL joint envoy for Syria, arrived in Cairo this evening on a several day official visit to Egypt, his first leg of his open mission replacing his predecessor Kofi Annan. His official spokesman Ahmed Fawzi said Al-Ibrahimi will hold talks in Egypt with President Dr. Mohammed Mursi, Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amro, Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabeel Al-Arabi and a number of Syrian opposition dignitaries to discuss the latest developments of the crisis. Al-Ibrahimi has not yet decided when to go to Damascus, the spokesman said.
