AlHijjah 27, 1433, Nov 12, 2012, SPA -- Presided over by its Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Shiekh, Majlis Al-Shura held its 64th ordinary session and issued a number of decisions. In a statement following the meeting, Dr. Fahhad bin Mu'tad Al-Hamad, Assistant Speaker of the Council, said the meeting adjourned discussion on the controversial traffic system, pending a proposal by the Government on Article 73 on traffic violation fines settlement. Majlis Al-Shura approved an agreement between King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives and the National Islamic (Millia) University of India. The meeting also discussed the performance of the Human Resources Fund, designed to support job-seekers, calling for supporting small and medium enterprises, providing training and rehabilitation for them and coordinating with the Ministry of Labor to tackle the situation originating from some private sector facilities intentionally terminate the contracts of workers whose bursaries were terminated to replace them by new laborers who meet the Fund's conditions. Discussing the performance of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the Shura Council underscored the importance of providing support for the Mineral Resources sector, which members said receives relative negligence of the Ministry. They demanded focus of the Ministry on industries using raw materials available in the Kingdom and go for manufacturing rather than exporting them. The members advised the increase of refineries in the Kingdom and upgrading their capacities. They also drew the attention to the Ministry's delay of implementing a Royal Decree to establish a home gas network to avoid the risks of transporting gas energy across cities. The Shura Council noted that gasoline usage in the Kingdom is on the increase, calling for rationalization of its consumption.
