Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani said the GCC is a strong alliance capable of carrying out its external and internal responsibilities. This came in a speech by the Secretary-General delivered yesterday at the discussion session of the Cambridge Conference on Gulf Research, organized by the Gulf Research Center at the University of Cambridge. Dr Al Zayani highlighted the vision of the Gulf Cooperation Council to achieve prosperity. He stated that the Council seeks to achieve five key strategic objectives: protection of the GCC member states against external threats, increasing economic growth, maintaining a high level of human development, increasing awareness of risk and disaster management and strengthening the regional and international position of the GCC. He stressed the importance of cooperation among the countries of the Council and with other countries and highlighted efforts made by GCC countries to resolve the crisis of Yemen.
