President Mohammed Morsi of the Arab Republic of Egypt commended the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for his efforts in supporting Arab causes. In a statement to Okaz newspaper published today, he said, "We respect and appreciate the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Saudi people, appreciating the King's sincere efforts in support of Arab cooperation and his roles in support of Arab causes." The Egyptian President stressed that Egyptian-Saudi relations have been historical and deep-rooted, , describing them as always proceeding ahead for the better. President Morsi explained, that Saudi-Egyptian relations are a model for Arab-Arab cooperation, adding, "We, in Egypt, cannot forget the positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has been standing by Arab countries." He noted that Egypt and Saudi Arabia are working for the Arab nation, resolving of (Arab) differences, and supporting the Arab solidarity, as their strengths are for Arab and Muslim worlds, indicating that Egypt supports any Arab-Arab rapprochement. The Egyptian President stressed strong and excellent relations between Egypt and Arab Gulf States, saying that the security of the Arab Gulf is of prime priority for the Arab Republic of Egypt.
