A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the northwestern coast of West Manggarai district in East Nusa Tenggara province on Wednesday at 07.56 p.m., the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said. The quake was centered 34 km northwest of Manggarai town or 1,470 km southeast of Jakarta at a depth of 10 km, ANTARA quoted the agency as saying in its official website. The temblor did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, it said. Earlier in the day, a quake with a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale also shook the West Java town of Cianjur. The epicenter of the quake which struck at 11.55 a.m. was located 55 lm southwest of Cianjur or 174 km southeast of Jakarta at a depth of 28 km. No injuries or material damage were reported in the two quakes.
