The Shoura Council discussed at an ordinary session held here today under the chairmanship of its Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh a bill to nationalize operation and maintenance jobs in public facilities. In remarks to the press following the meeting, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Amro, Secretary General of the Shoura Council said the 21-article proposal which was designed by Eng. Mohammed Al-Guwaihes, member of Majlis Alshurah, received thorough discussion. Al Amro said the bill was transferred to an ad hoc committee for further study. Among the most interesting points is that the system will at least serve as a data base for the Saudi job-seekers in the field of operation and maintenance provides a list of vacant jobs for Saudi job-seekers in this field. A unified payroll and employment system for all companies working in the field of operation and maintenance is direly required, one member said. Also returned for later discussion was a report submitted by the Security Affairs committee on the controls to be enforced to tackle the phenomenon of notifications filed by employers about foreign laborer absentees and cancellation of such notifications. The Shoura Council approved an agreement between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government of the Peoples Republic of China in the field of peaceful usage of nuclear energy. Following an in-depth debate of a report on the performance of the Customs department, the meeting decided to give the Financial Affairs committee, which submitted the report, much time to study the viewpoints raised by the floor.
