The Shoura Council today approved the marriage of Saudis to non-Saudis System, a bill previously received thorough discussion at the Council. In its 45th ordinary session presided over by its Vice Speaker Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Hamza Hajjar, the Shoura Council gave the okay for the 13-article system which allows all Saudi citizens to get married to their choices from the Gulf Cooperation Council member countries without any restriction and adopts a flexible position towards the marriage of a Saudi male or female to whoever has a Saudi mother and non-Saudi father. Applications for marriage to non-Saudis will be submitted to ad hoc committees at the administrative governorates. Violators of this system will be subject to a not more than SR100,000 fine, to be used in assisting marriage-seekers in the Kingdom. A number of bills were also discussed at the meeting and referred to the concerned committees for further study.
