JEDDAH — The Jeddah Elite Ladies Toastmasters conducted their 3rd officers' induction ceremony for the term July 2015-June 2016 recently. It's a ladies-only club that meets bi-weekly with an aim to empower women to become better leaders and communicators. The dignitaries present were Division H Director: DTM Lakshman Sockalingam, Area 18 Director: TM Abdul Azeez, Area 18 Assistant director for Program Quality: TM Ramesh Menon. In his speech, DTM Lakshman stressed the importance of communication and leadership skills in both professional and personal lives. He remarked, “A great leader has to be a good communicator and good communicators naturally make good leaders.” TM Abdul Azeez applauded the efforts of Jeddah Elite Ladies Toastmasters in creating female public speaking champions. He said, “Previously, opportunities for ladies were nowhere but with the launch of Jeddah Elite Ladies Toastmasters club we can proudly say that opportunities for ladies are now here.” TM Abdul Azeez conducted the installation ceremony and administered the oaths for the new office bearers for the year 2015-2016 who are as follows: President: TM Shakira Begum; Vice President-Education: TM Rabiyah Mohideen; Vice President-Membership: TM Saibu Nazar; Vice President-Public Relations: TM Rayeesa Tabassum; Secretary: TM Duaa Haddad; Treasurer: TM Majd Qari; Sergeant-at-arms: TM Mehad Habbab. Following the installation ceremony, President TM Shakira Begum reiterated the importance of teamwork and emphasized that her goal is to work as a team to develop the confidence, communication and leadership skills of every member of the club.
