'Energize to Empower' at Toastmasters Division H conference

JEDDAH — Toastmasters Syed Nasir Khursheed, Ajitha Saleem and Shahid Malayil emerged as the top three speakers in the humorous speech contest during the Toastmasters, Division H, 3rd Annual conference at La Sani Restaurant.
The first and second place winners from three areas participated in the contest. Members from 13 clubs attended the conference event. The entire event was based on the theme "Energize to Empower."
The day-long conference began with the banner parade from each participating club and area and division officers. Division H ADGET Toastmaster Najeeb Mullavettil opened the conference, followed by the message of Division Governor Toastmaster Khaleel Ahmed.
Keynote address from District Governor DTM Joey Villanova mesmerized the audience. Chief Guest Ramnarayan Iyer, Executive Editor of Saudi Gazette, inspired the audience with his powerful message linked to empowerment.
He highlighted the small things that one can improve on to energize oneself. And it is this renewed energy that would help one to empower oneself, while stressing on the need and the importance of empowerment.
Division Secretary Toastmaster Saji Kuriakose and Toastmaster Sabina Sulaiman anchored the show.
Competitions were held in four different categories, such as humorous speech contest led by TM Mohideen Seeni Ali, Evaluation contest led by TM Ifteqar Ahmed, Table Topics contest led by TM Shanthi Lakshman and International speech contests led by TM Beniffer Consolacion.
First, second & third place winners of each category are: Humor contest TM Syed Nasir Khursheed, TM Ajitha Saleem, TM Shahid Malayil; Evaluation contest TM Roy Ian Rivera, TM Rayeesa Tabassum, TM Sheikh Khaja Mohideen: Table Topics contest TM Harold Edralin, TM Kavitha Senapathi, TM Sheikh Khaja Mohideen & International Speech contest TM Osama Tawi, TM Allan Zamora, TM Harold Edralin.
District 79 Lt. Gov. Marketing DTM Rashid Ali, Immediate Past Division Governor Toastmaster Gleny Sibag, District 79 Treasurer DTM Abdullah Filimban were present in the conference. Division officers TM Khaleel Ahmed, TM Najeeb Mullaveetil and TM Saji Kuriakose said: "The conference was a great success in terms of attendance and the quality performance of its members." — SG
