To promote communication and leadership skills, Al Wurood International School in Jeddah has recently launched a Toastmasters Club for its educators. The Vibrant Wurood Toastmasters Club is made up of 29 members whose prime target is to persevere and excel in all their endeavors, as well as to prove their mettle in public speaking. As the name “wurood” (aromatic rose) suggests, the club aims to spread the art of public speaking and motivate others to become better communicators and leaders. The pioneering move was launched on Feb. 22 as a new avenue for productive education in a multinational environment. Charter President Dr. Sereena Jalaludeen called the meeting to order and newly elected office-bearers took their oaths. Principal K. Rahamathullah gave an inspirational message. Toastmaster (TM) Bobby Ensomo organized the session while TM Lakshman Sockil and TM Abdul Sameeh served as evaluators. TM Khaleel Ahmed conducted the Table Topics session. TM Raja Chandran read the GE report. The Best Prepared Speaker, Evaluator and Table Topic Speaker were honored.
