MAKKAH — The municipality here seized water that was poorly stored. After a tip off, teams from the municipality stormed a warehouse and found more than 3,000 boxes of water stored in direct sunlight. They also seized more than 5,000 pieces of chicken and 160 bags of rice not fit for human consumption. Meanwhile, Al-Shawkiyyah branch municipality has confiscated 50 cartons of dates, 30 cartons of orange, large quantities of mineral water bottles and various quantities of vegetables for not been properly stored. Head of the municipality, Mamdouh Bin Mohammed Iraqi, said a restaurant and a grocery were closed down for various violations. He said the municipality will intensify its raids against food stores and eateries to ensure that the foodstuffs sold or offered to the pilgrims are hygienic and suitable for human consumption.
