Large quantities of expired and poorly stored food items were discovered by Makkah police at a warehouse in Al-Zuhur district on Saturday. Police agents were on a routine inspection tour of the area when they saw a group of Bangladeshi workers standing in front of a truck loaded with bottled carbonated beverages. The workers led the police to the warehouse where large quantities of rice, oil, and macaroni were found. Dead mice were seen in some of the bags of rice, with cobweb on top of other bags. Carbonated beverages, bottled water, and baby diapers were also discovered. Workers were preparing to load the rice into empty cartons for later distribution to small grocery stores. – Al
