DAMMAM — Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath (TNTJ), a South Indian organization, Dammam Chapter has successfully organized a mega blood donation campaign last Friday aimed at helping the pilgrims for this year's Haj. Two major hospitals in the Eastern Province, Alkhobar's King Fahd University Hospital, and Dammam Central Hospital, supervised and coordinated the camp, in which more than 325 volunteers donated 282 units of blood. “We arranged this big event and donated blood for Haj pilgrims,” said the organizers and members of TNTJ. Dr. Abdullah Matar Al-Otaibi, director of regional laboratory Dammam Blood Bank, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Rubaish, president of Dammam University, supervised the entire campaign and expressed thanks and appreciation to TNTJ for organizing such constructive and noble work on a regular basis. According to the TNTJ Head of Dammam unit, Umar Farooq, so far TNTJ organization has conducted 44 campaigns in Khobar, Dammam, Qatif and Jubail hospitals. Further, TNTJ continues to be the No. 1 organization for conducting these blood donations campaigns in the last 8 years. In recognition of their voluntary work, hospital authorities have awarded the group more than 15 awards recognizing their contribution to the society and especially people of the Eastern Province. “We conduct these campaigns in line with Qur'an's teachings which says ‘Whoever saves a life will be as if he has saved entire mankind'. Surely, this will help in creating social harmony and eradicate hatred,” he said. TNTJ continues to be No. 1 organization in blood donation in Tamil Nadu as well as in GCC countries. In India too, the Indian state Tamil Nadu's government has awarded a number of awards praising TNTJ's noble work. TNTJ also regularly performs educational, charity, humanitarian, and social services to serve the people. These events help in improving harmony and also create awareness about Islam. According to Dammam Regional Blood Bank, TNTJ's blood contribution is about 10% of the whole blood contributed on yearly basis.
