Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TNTJ) Riyadh Chapter organized a blood donation camp in coordination with King Fahd Medical City (KFMC) on Friday. As many as 245 volunteers donated at total of 220 units of blood, which would be used to meet the needs of Umrah pilgrims. Though a large number of volunteers have turned up at the camp to donate blood, the authorities set an intake limit of 220 units in a single camp. Another camp will be organized on June 5 for the remaining donors. A KFMC lab team led by James provided full support to the TNTJ volunteers. Laboratory Director Saud Al-Anazi thanked the TNTJ for organizing the camp on a regular basis. This was the 34th blood donation camp organized by the group. TNTJ blood donation campaign coordinator Mujeebur Rahman said his group has conducted 33 such camps over the past 10 years and has won more than 15 citations and awards in recognition of the noble gesture from the hospital authorities, the Ministry of Health and the Tamil Nadu government. The TNTJ is the leading community group that organizes voluntary blood donation camps in the entire Gulf region, he said, adding that by the grace of Allah Almighty it will continue to carry on the mission. Riyadh TNTJ President Irshad Ahmed said, “TNTJ organizes voluntary blood donation campaigns to meet the emergency requirements during Umrah and Haj seasons. “We conduct these camps drawing inspiration from the Qur'anic verse, “Whoever saves a life will be as if he has saved the entire mankind,” (Holy Qur'an: chapter 5, verse 32).
