AL-AHSA — The municipality in Al-Ahsa has shut down 26 food stores and restaurants, and seized 920 kg of rotten food products. Municipality spokesman Khalid Boshal said the food seized was rotten, expired and stored incorrectly, and that restaurants and stores were shut down due to several health violations. According to Boshal, food items were stored in unhygienic places and workers did not conform to health and safety regulations. Workers were also found preparing meals early and then storing them to serve on the following day. The municipality disposed of all seized products and has penalized workers and store owners.
