SAUDI Arabian Airlines has named a training hall at its Manila office after flight attendant April Joie Fernandez, who died after a bout with leukemia on Aug. 16, in recognition of her loyalty to the company. The Filipino flight attendant had requested her family to bury her in her Saudia uniform. Her last wish sparked an outpouring of emotional reactions on social media networks and was described as an outstanding example of dedication and loyalty to the company. Saudia's Vice President for In-Flight Services Ahmed Alwassiah extended deep sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family. He told the family that Saudia has lost an outstanding colleague who had great love and exceptional loyalty to the company. He handed her mother a personal letter of condolences from the airline's director general, Saleh Al-Jasser. “It was indeed gratifying for Saudia that Ms. Fernandes was so proud and felt extremely privileged to have once been a part our airline's in-flight services that she requested to be buried in her Saudia uniform," Al-Jasser said in his letter. Ma. Theresa Fernandez expressed her gratitude to Saudia for standing by the family during their time of grief. — SG
