I am writing with regard to the article "Low green Nitaqat firms allowed to transfer Iqamas" (June 9). The Minister of Labor should urgently look into unjust claims that some expat workers are "huroub" (expat workers who have run away from their sponsors). Some sponsors have falsely claimed that their workers are huroub and have registered these claims with the Ministry of Labor. Many innocent expatriates are suffering due to such unjust allegations. M. Khan, Online response Indeed this is good news for both employees and employers in the lower green nitaqat category. The Ministry of Labor should also carefully consider the issue of huroub as some expats have become victims of unscrupulous sponsors who have falsely claimed that their workers have run away from their place of work. And also the rights of expats regarding salary increments and benefits should be on the list of items to be discussed. The cost of living increases every year while salaries stay the same. John Acuna, Online response If a company is in the low green category and does not permit its employees to transfer to another company in a higher category and in fact insists that its employees leave the country on an exit-only visa, then what are the legal rights of the workers and how can they transfer to another company? This situation needs to be clarified by the ministry. Mohammed Faraz, Online response
