I am writing with regard to the article “When will the Ministry of Labor stop contradicting itself?” (May 24). Let's stop this un-Islamic and uncivilized system of sponsorship. Life is short and after that we have to answer to Allah about our deeds. How long can you benefit from this inhumane subjugation! Anonymous, Online response II. The last paragraph of this article says that expats should not be allowed to change their employers without their sponsors' permission because they might take trade secrets to other employers. But what about Saudi employees? How can you prevent them from taking trade secrets with them when they change employers? In this case the first employer spends a lot of money training the Saudi worker and allows him to learn trade secrets, but when he leaves, the employer cannot stop him. So why are there double standards with regard to expatriate workers? Pay employees well and treat them right and you will retain them along with your trade secrets. Expat, Online response III. There is talk that there will be a change in the sponsorship system before Ramadan. We have all been waiting for years and years for this to happen. The government should seriously think of making this change so that we can take up better job opportunities and not work like donkeys for one sponsor. The main problem is that there are few opportunities to move forward in the same company. Ahmed, Online response
