The Investigation and General Prosecution (IGP) in Jeddah has moved the General Court in Jeddah to award capital punishment for a Yemeni accused of raping 13 children. A judicial source said a three-judge panel will be formed to try the alleged serial rapist who investigators say has admitted his guilt. The Yemeni resident of Jeddah is accused of luring and sexually assaulting minors ranging between 9 to 13 years of age. He was arrested after security authorities received reports about his alleged perversion. He is said to have confessed to his crimes to the IGP attorney general on being confronted with forensic reports and the victims he allegedly sodomized. If the judges panel sentences him to death, the verdict must be approved by the Court of Cassation and also by the Supreme Judiciary Council. Speaking about the case, Ehsan Bin Saleh Tayeb, former director of Social Affairs in Makkah, warned about “human wolves” prowling about in alleys and undeveloped areas of cities, especially around noon, to prey on children.
