JEDDAH — Thailand's Consulate General in Jeddah, in cooperation with community members in the western region of Saudi Arabia, hosted a gathering on Friday to celebrate Thai Family Day. More than 600 people took part in the event, which was marked by Thai cultural presentations and shows from students of the Thai Language Distance Learning Center in Jeddah. Children from the Thai community showcased their talent by performing classical and modern dances and songs. Thanis Na Songkhla, Thailand's consul general in Jeddah, delivered the welcoming remarks. He wished all participants happiness on the Thai Family Day and expressed thanks to the Thai community for their roles in promoting social values and leading a disciplined life in Saudi Arabia as “quality expats”. Na Songkhla explained new services rendered to the Thai community by the consulate such as the renewal of Thai identity card since January this year. He also mentioned the cooperation between the consulate and the Department of Local Administration and the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center in facilitating Thai people living in Saudi Arabia on the legalization process for house registration at their domicile in the southern provinces of Thailand. A variety of Thai dishes were offered by members of the Thai community and Thai restaurants in Jeddah. Several lucky draws were held with many prizes, including two business class return tickets to Bangkok from Garuda Indonesia.
