As Mr. Khalid Almaeena makes clear in his article "It's time to upgrade services at the Kingdom's airports" (May 10) that the staff at the Kingdom's airports have to change their attitude. Unfortunately, in spite of several articles by both Saudi and expat journalists, the situation is still much the same as usual. Immigration staff leave the counter when hundreds of passengers are waiting in front of them and those available are very busy on their mobile phones. Many of them deal with passengers rudely. Passengers, especially expatriates, are left to the mercy of immigration personnel. Observer, Online response This excellent article details the shortcomings in the airport services. Unfortunately, in spite of all the promises which have been made by civil aviation authorities to improve services, nothing much has been done. We hope that the new authority will be much more active. Dr. Ali Al-Ghamdi, Online response This article should be enough to open the eyes of the concerned authorities. The author writes of a four-hour delay in clearing airport immigration, while my parents, who are in their 70s, took eight hours and 40 minutes to do the same. There were 14 counters, but only three immigration officers were working. Everyone has similar stories. Manzoor Ahmed, Online response
