MADINAH — Madinah Cricket Association (MCA) commenced its 2015 cricket season with the inauguration of Independence Day Cup Cricket Tournament. In all 14 registered teams of MCA are taking part in the tournament, which is being sponsored by the Pakistan Consulate Jeddah. The teams are divided into two groups. Group A: Pak Eagle, Madinah Diamond, Pak Madinah, Bismillah, Serendeb Sports, Green Hawks and Dada-XI. Group B: Saudi Oger, Hasnain-XI, Sky Wars, United Stars, Ansar Al-Madinah, Pepsi Madinah and Shining Stars. The 20-over tournament is being held on league-cum-knockout basis. Dada-XI beat the Pak Eagle on the opening day. Batting first, Pak Eagle scored 137. Fayyaz Chouhan top scored with 20. In reply, Dada-XI hit the target for the loss of seven wickets. Adnan made 29, Qalander 24 not out and Sultan 22. Rau Butta and Fayyaz Chauhan claimed two wickets each. Sky Wars defeated Shining Stars by 139 runs. Batting first, Sky Wars scored 218. Rehan contributed 55 with 9 boundaries. Waseem made 26 and Adnan 23. Kamran claimed 4 wickets and Qasim 3. In reply, Shining Stars was bundled out for 79. Hamza was the top scorer with 32. Aamir took 4 wickets. Madinah Diamond defeated Pak Madinah by 57 runs. Batting first, Madinah Diamond put on 205. Hashim scored 58, Hamza 36, Jhanzeb 29, Sohail 24 and Ali Shair 23. Tariq and Owais took 2 wickets each. In reply, Pak Madinah managed 148. Tariq and Owais hit 40 and 32, respectively. Shakil, Shoeb and Aqeel took 2 wickets each. Ansar Al-Madinah lost to United Stars by three runs. United Stars tallied 158 as Shafiq remained not out on 50. Riyaz contributed 30. Ansar Al-Madinah captain Asif captured 3 wickets. In reply, Ansar Al-Madinah scored 155. Rizwan top scored with 49. Shafiq grabbed 4 wickets. Pak Madinah prevailed over Serendeb Sports. Batting first, Pak Madinah put on 186. Tariq blasted 58 in 27 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Owais blasted 43 in 19 balls with 6 boundaries and 2 sixes. Sarfraz bagged 3 wickets. Serandeb Sports was bowled out for 113. Murshid cracked 40 with 7 fours. Owais took 4 wickets and Omer 3. MoneyGram winner Saudi Oger was jolted by Pepsi Madinah. Batting first, Saudi Oger scored 139. Aziz Ullah scored 39 and Asif 31.
