Rashid and Zakir hit tons in MCA tourney

MADINAH — Centuries by Rashid and Zakir were the highlight of this week's matches played in Madinah Cricket Association (MCA) Cricket Ke Badshah T20 Tournament here.
The tournament is sponsored by MoneyGram under the auspices of Saudi Cricket Centre.
In first match, Saudi Oger scored a 70-run win over Pak Madinah. Saudi Oger scored 204 runs. Rashid scored an unbeaten century (102) with 15 boundaries. Waseem contributed 32 and Manzoor 30. Owais grabbed 2 wickets. Pak Madinah was bundled out for 134. Fahed hit 52 with 3 sixes and 3 fours. Shehbaz picked up 3 wickets, while Manzoor and Rashid bagged 2 each.
The second match saw Pak Eagles beat United Stars by 3 runs. Pak Eagle put on 157-9. Rehan made 50 not out with 4 boundaries and a six. Captain Rauf Bhutta contributed 30. Riaz Khan took 3 wickets, while Ateeque and Imran bagged a wicket each. In reply, United Stars fell short by 3 runs. Ateeque, Azmat and Mohammed Shafique scored 26, 24 and 22 respectively. There were 39 extras as well. Imtiaz picked up 3 wickets.
In the third encounter, Airport-XI thrashed Hasnain Cricket Club by 9 wickets. Batting first, Hasnain scored 144 with Abbas making 60 and Khadim 25. Irfan claimed two wickets. In reply, Airport-XI achieved the target for the loss of one wicket. Zakir played a brilliant knock of 100 not out with 11 boundaries and 2 sixes.
The fourth match saw Madinah Diamonds score a thrilling win over Friends-XI. Friends mustered 130 as Madinah Diamonds gave away 27 extras. Imran hit 32. Shoeb got 3 wickets, while Shahid, Anees and Murtaza took two each. In reply, Madinah Diamonds was in all sorts of mess. At one stage it had lost nine wickets with 30 runs remaining to win the match. Manzoor and Shoeb, however, carried their team to victory. Riaz scored 43. Zubair claimed 4-19.
In the previous week's action: Pak Madinah defeated Airport-XI by 14 runs; Pak Eagle recorded a 3-wicket win over Bismillah-XI; United Stars beat Pak Madinah by 3 wickets; and Hasnain CC recorded its first victory against Friends-XI when it won by 43 runs.
In the first round matches: United Stars defeated Friends-XI by 3 runs; Pak Eagle won against Pak Madinah by 7 wickets; Saudi Oger thumped Hasnain CC by 60 runs; and Madinah Diamonds scored a 7-wicket win over Airport-XI. — SG
