RIYADH —Team Habagat, one of the leading contenders, made its presence felt early in the tournament with a convincing 24-7 win over Free Style.
Stephen Solomon led the one-sided attack with a masterful 4-game series of 953, with contributions from Donjie Mapalad (815), Dong Yamco (807), Clem Salazar (771) and Jim Dela Rosa (680) on way to bagging the Team of the Week award.
Habagat will be treated with free pizzas by Pizza Inn, the main sponsor of the Friday Family Bowling League held weekly at UBC.
It was a one-man show for Solomon as he also bagged the Bowler of the Week honors and soared ahead in the MVP race for men with an average of 236.
Irene Pua of Team Unity took the Ladies' Bowler of the Week award with a series of 872. Pua also leads in the ladies MVP crown race with an average of 193.1.
In other matches, Allied Unica beat Cezars Team 16-10, Bandar Assasins rolled over Pinpals 20-12, Unica edged Royal Strikers 23-17, ABB Saudi Plus defeated Forevermore 18-16, Beauties and the Best narrowly won over Simply Perfect 18-17, Got Chah downed Honky Tonk 19-16, Aces and Kings edged Striking Distance 16-15 and Saudi Oger upset Team Unity 20-17.
The Friday Family Bowling League now in its 34th conference is the longest running league which is organized by the Unified Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (UFTBR).
The league organizing committee is headed by Rita Sison with members Cesar De Mesa, Ernee Noto, Armin Isles, Dennis Durens and Irene Pua. The league will run for 38 weeks and Pizza Inn will be giving away free pizzas weekly to the Team of the Week.
