MCH, MBCC, New Young Stars MoneyGram champs in WPCA

JEDDAH — Unbeaten for the last three years My Care Hala downed Crown Steel by 5 wickets in the Premier Division, MBCC defeated favorite Nestle Milo in the Afternoon League and New Young Stars had the last laugh against Stallions by 8 wickets in the Morning League final to emerge champions in the MoneyGarm CKB 2015 which was sponsored by MoneyGram Money Transfer and organized by WPCA under the auspices of Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC) here recently.

Premier Division (35 overs)

Crown Steel, put into bat by My Care Hala, was off to a solid start as Khurram Karamat smashed 92 in 59 balls with 11 fours and 4 sixes. He added 129 with skipper Shafeeq (30). One down Nadeem Amin compiled 48 but the other batsmen failed to maintain the tempo and folded the innings for 240. Man-of-the-Match Faheem Afrad grabbed 3-37 and 4 catches, while Khurram Haneef took 3-58, Adnan Liaqat 2-35 and Amjed 2-50.

My Care Hala chased the target for the loss of 5 wickets with 11 balls to spare. Qamar Abbas hammered an unbeaten 77 in 75 balls with 3 sixes and 4 fours. Kashif Shafeeq compiled 73 in 56 balls with 2 sixes and 6 fours. Babar scored 32. Ghulam Riyaz claimed 3-36, Abuhuraira 1-42 and Shoaib Ali 1-46. The match was supervised by umpires Waseeq Sherwani and Imran.

Afternoon (T20)

Heavy favorite CKB Nestle Milo was stunned by MBCC by just 6 runs. MBCC piled up 160-8 as Waqas scored 45 and Haroon Rana 28. Once the openers were separated it slumped to 99-4. Then Rashid steadied the innings with an unbeaten 36. Sher Bahadur got 2-11, Haroon Zahid 2-20 and one wicket each went to Iftikhar and Bilal Malik. Nestle Milo, in reply, lost wickets at regular intervals to be restricted to 154-9. Iftikhar Ali tried his best with 53 in 32 balls with 5 fours and a six. Azhar bowled devastatingly to take 4-24, Nasir 3-33 and Tariq one.

Umpires for this match were Sohail Shah and Zafar Iqbal.

Morning (T20)
Stallions, opting to bat, managed 161-8. Hassan Ali remained unbeaten on 55 off 43 balls, Arsalan hit 24 and Zakir 26. Rafaqat claimed 3-37, Imran 2-45 and Shabbir one.

New Young Stars reached 163-2 in 96 balls as Man-of-the-Match Amir blasted an unbeaten 103 in 52 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes. He added a match-winning 76 for the unbroken third wicket with Bilal Adnan (25). Jawwad took one wickets.

Zafar and Saleem were the umpires. Shakeel and Farrukh were the scorers for the finals.

Nadeem Nadwi, CEO, SCC was the chief guest during the awarding ceremony which was attended by Sadequl Islam, Khurshid Zafar, Asim, Sohail Shah, Zahid Qureshi, Khaleel Dawood, Nadeem Shabbir and international umpire Khaleel Kazi.

The following won the performance awards:

Premier Division: Best Batsman — Kashif Shafeeq; Best Bowler — Adnan Liaqat; Man of the Tournament — Abuhuraira; and Best Wicketkeeper — Imran Azam.

Afternoon: Man of the Tournament — Usman Gulab; Best Batsman — Bilal Iqbal Malik; Best Bowler — Nasir; and Best Wicketkeeper — Adnan Khan.
Morning: Man of the Tournament — Rafaqat; Best Batsman — Aamir; Best Bowler — Adil; Best Wicketkeeper — Humayoun.

Men of the Finals — Faheem Afrad (MCH); Azhar (MBCC) and Aamir (New Young Stars).

A special cash award from Khurshid Zafar and a top class bat was presented by Nadeem Nadwi to Khurram Karamat for his marathon innings of 300.
Umpires were given cash awards, while Ilyas Mustafa and Dr. Zia were felicitated with special awards.
