RIYADH — Principal of International Indian School Riyadh (IISR) Dr.Shoukat Pervez addressed the audience with his personal anecdotes, referring to his recent meeting with former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam where he discussed the implementation of his vision 2020 program.
He expressed his happiness to see one of the ways in which Vision 2020 was being implemented by All India United Society (AIUS).
He applauded the novel idea of encouraging social worker, sportsman and athlete from a single platform. He also congratulated the recipients of mementos and appreciated their achievements and thanked the organizer for recognizing their talents and achievements.
All India United Society, a social and cultural association of Indian expatriates in Riyadh, has felicitated achievers and performers of various fields other than the education like social service, sports, body building etc.
Pervez presented a memento to Sihabuddin Kottukadu, Dr. Gazi Pervez and Mohammed Amaan ur Rahman.
Dr. Mohammed Ashraf Ali, president of AIUS, presided over the gathering while Pervez was the chief guest.
He said AIUS always tries to recognize and felicitate deserving members of the Indian community. During the past 12 years many prominent nonresident Indians were felicitated for their services and contribution in diverse fields.
He said that among the Indian Community in Saudi Arabia a lot of hidden gems are found who deserve proper recognition and try to bring such jewels to limelight.
Speaking on the function, Mohammed Rafeeq, vice president, welcomed the guests and audiences, and highlighted the various activities done by AIUS past in the past 12 years. He warmly welcomed the guests with few Urdu couplets (poetry).
Architect Mohammed Abdul Rahman Saleem, president of Hindustani Bazme Urdu, spoke and congratulated the recipients. "AIUS always appreciated the talented Indians."
The function began with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'an by Shoeb Mohiuddin. Bouquets were also presented to the guests and recipients.
Dr. Sayeed Mohiuddin, vice president, Karnataka Chapter, anchored the proceedings with his captivating oratory.
He also presented the biography and achievements of Kottukadu, who was one of the recipient of the prestigious award of AIUS.
Kottukadu has been awarded the Pravasi Bharti Award by the Government of India.
Syed Abdul Kareem Khalid, general secretary of AIUS, outlined the personality of Gazi, who was awarded for his excellent works in body building.
Mohammed Shahbaz Farooqi, treasurer of AIUS, briefed about the child prodigy Amaan ur Rahman, who has won many laurels at such a tender age in various Table Tennis events.
An informative seminar on “Medicine Free Life” was organized by keynote speaker Dr. P. A. Kareem, an Indian Naturopathy, highlighted the importance of natural resources in our lives, specially the eating habits and unnatural life style is real threat to our health.
He said that adopting the lifestyle of our beloved prophet will ensure safety from many diseases and illness.
Mohiuddin conducted the proceedings. Many prominent nonresidents Indians attend this function.
