RIYADH — The Deccan Cultural Association felicitated poet Dr. Hanif Tarin and bid farewell to him. Tarin is leaving for India for good after contributing 32 years of his service in the Kingdom, particularly promoting Udru literature. The event was hosted by Syed Akram Mohiuddin at his residence where prominent personalities of Riyadh were present. The program was anchored by Javed Ali. Senior Journalist K. N. Wasif read out his article in honor of Tarin and described him as a friend of mankind and a very sensitive personality. Abdul Aziz Shamim Khan, chairman of the Deccan Cultural Association, in his opening address portrayed Tarin as a well-wisher of Hyderabadi community here. He also presented a traditional shawl to Tarin on behalf of the association. Dr. Sayeed Mohiuddin presented a beautiful flower bouquet to Tarin, who also received a memorable memento. Few of the poets of Rabab-e-Sahra presented their poetic contributions. Tarin thanked the Deccan Cultural Association for this kind gesture and applauded the services of Hyderabadis in the Indian Community towards Urdu language. He also acknowledged Dr. Mohammed Ashraf Ali, president of APUS and the Deccan Cultural Association for promoting him in Riyadh. Syed Akram Mohiuddin thanked everybody for being present at such a short notice. He said that Riyadh will miss Tarin. "We will arrange such poetic gatherings in future too and remember him in them." This event was attended by prominent personalities including Zia ur Rahman, Mir Mohsin Ali, Mohammed Subhan, Mir Liaquat Ali Hashmi, general secretary, Tanzeem Hum Hindustani and others. — SG
