TCF-Jotun tourney begins Friday

JEDDAH — Champions Dazzle Super Kings will take on ATS Raisco CC in the opening match of the 7th TCF annual cricket championship at the new BMT floodlit stadium opposite to Al-Waha Hotel near Sitteen Street Friday.
Pranav Ganesh, Indian consul (consular services), will inaugurate the tournament.
The draw for the four-week long tournament, which is mainly sponsored by Jotun, was held at a local hotel here recently.
The winner will be awarded Jotun Trophy and the runner-up will receive FSN Cup.
The co-sponsors are FSN (Faisal S. Al-Naimi Est), Air Arabia, Al-Shamasi Contracting, Kool Dezign, Arcoma Equipments, Tires and Lubricants and Pullman Hotel and Resorts. The live draw and the flashing of fixture in seconds on a giant screen displayed at the hall stunned the audience.
The teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each and the top team from each group will qualify for the semifinals.
The preliminary league matches will be of 10 overs each, while the final will be of 12 overs.
The tournament rules and regulations were discussed in detail and the TCF officials answered the questions from team captains.
Groupings:
Pool A: Target Guys, Young Star, Moors Cricket Club and Sri Lankan Titans.
Pool B: Ajva Ford Royals, Arcoma ETL, My Own Challengers and Jotun Penguins.
Pool C: EFS KKR, Al-Max Cricket, Pepsi Alliance and Amasi Midnight Riders.
Pool D: Dazzle Super Kings, ATS Raisco CC,OMD Tuskers and ZH United Allrounders.
Jotun's champion and FSN runner-up trophies were unveiled by Jotun Marketing Manager Faisal Karim and FSN Divisional Manager Afsal Babu Adiraja. Air Arabia Manager Abdullah presented air ticket to lucky draw winner Al-Max captain Mohammed Iqbal. The program became very entertaining with instant cricket quiz during quick intervals.
The function was also attended by representatives from sponsors Hamza Al-Haddar (divisional manager, ARCOMA), Najib Erraiss (general manager, Pullman Al-Hamra Hotel), Abdullah (Air Arabia), Khalid Alvi (marketing executive), Iqbal Patel (senior category planner, Sadafco) and Basheer (EFS Cargo).
TCF treasurer Shahanad P.O. welcomed the gathering and forum president Mohammed Faseesh spoke during the ceremony. Zafeel Backer proposed a vote of thanks. TCF ex-president Anwar Sadath anchored the program and event head Abdul Khader Mochery handled the live draw.
Opening day's fixtures: Dazzle Super Kings vs. ATS Raisco CC (4:30 p.m.), My Own Challengers vs. Jotun Penguins (6 p.m.), Target Guys vs. Young Star (9 p.m.) and Ajva Ford Royals vs. Arcoma ETL (11 p.m.).
