JEDDAH — The Tellichery Cricket Forum (TCF) held the draw for the fifth day and night tennis ball cricket tournament for FSN Cup here recently. Nokia Tuskers and Strike will kick off the cricket fiesta at 4.30 p.m. on March 14 at the Baghdadiya ground here. The championship will be officially declared open at 8.30 p.m., the same day, by Sri Lankan Consul General Dr. Adambawa Uthumalebbe. The organizers made the draw transparent and colorful by conducting it live in the presence of all the 16 captains of the participating teams. The function became lively and very attractive when artist Firoze Vadakara drew a photo of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on a drawing board placed on the stage in just minutes while the ceremony was in progress. It earned a worthy standing applause by the participants. The 16 teams have been placed in four groups of four teams each. After the preliminary league matches of 10 overs each, the top team from the four groups will qualify for the knockout semifinals. The 12-over-a-side final will be on March 29. The groupings: Pool A: Nokia Tuskers, Strike, Dazzle XI and Lothers Cricket Club. Pool B: Mednet, Techyorker, UPS and ATS. Pool C: ABT Cargo, KKR, Target Guys and Day to Day. Pool D, Jazeera Ford, SLMCC, Al-Jouf and Royal Costa. The trophies for the winner and runner-up were unveiled by Tony Joseph, Business Development Manager of Strike, and SIFF President Hifsu Rahman. Artist Firoze was presented with a TCF memento by Mayinkutty, City Reporter of Malayalam News. TCF Secretary Faseesh welcomed the gathering and the presidential speech was delivered by Anwar Sadath. Faheem proposed a vote of thanks. The weekend championship is mainly sponsored by FSN (Faisal Al-naimi Est.).
